Wirecard, with its Indonesian subsidiary PT Prima Vista Solusi, will support TransJakarta Busway with an electronic ticketing system using innovative Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal solutions. Passengers of the Busway can pay for their ticket using stored-value contactless cards or their NFC-enabled mobile phone. Wirecard provides the payment infrastructure and services, as well as the integration to the participating financial institutions.
TransJakarta Busway operates Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) which is known as the Busway system. TransJakarta is a public utility board, supervised by the Transportation Agency of Jakarta provincial region. Starting on 15 January 2004, TransJakarta now boasts 177 stations over its 12 routes or corridors, servicing over six million passengers per month. Indomora Harahap, Vice President Acquiring Business and Risk with Bank Negara Indonesia, said: “We are offering convenience to passengers by providing e-wallet cards as electronic ticketing. In partnership with Wirecard, we are seeking to serve the growing population of the nation’s capital city.”
Currently TransJakarta accepts stored-value contactless card payments from leading banks in Indonesia, namely Bank DKI, Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Central Asia, Bank Negara Indonesia and Bank Mega. Diki Jatnika, Head of Debit and E-channel Division with Bank Mega, said: “We are excited to jointly work with Wirecard to extend our reach and serve the people of Jakarta in their daily transactions. Whether the transaction happens in a physical store, via e-commerce, or while our customers are on the go on public transport, together we are there to offer convenient and secure payment.”
“We are glad to work with the leading banks of Indonesia to jointly support TransJakarta Busway. Payment in a high-volume and rapid-pace environment such as public transportation requires technological agility and seamless integration to provide reliable services for passengers who are in a rush. Our robust POS platform is coupled with a proactive transaction monitoring system enabling us to design optimal capacity to handle peak-time transactions,” commented Widhayati Darmawan, Managing Director with PT Prima Vista Solusi.
