The minister, who visited the area to find out about execution of the Okavango-Zambezi Cross-Border Conservation Project, noted the central government’s efforts to build airports, roads, install water and power systems and, above all, its willingness to receive private sector investments.

The Okavango Basin Hub is one of the tourist development centres defined at a national level by the Tourism Master Plan and is recognised as being appropriate for nature tourism.

The hub was created by a decree in March 2011, is located in the city of Dirico, in the southern area of Zaire province, and covers an area of 11,972 hectares at the confluence of Cuito and Cubango rivers.
