BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai AirAsia flight FD 9101 bound for Nanjing which took off at 5:55 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2014, with 174 passengers and four cabin crew on board, had to turn around and return to Don Mueang Airport after unruly Chinese passengers injured a flight attendant.
On this charter flight to Nanjing, a Chinese couple was upset because they were not seated together, as the tour group they were a part of had assigned seats in alphabetical order. The flight attendant was very accommodating, however, and provided seats together for the couple. The couple, however, continued to loudly complain.
During the flight, the Chinese woman purchased a bowl of instant noodles and asked for boiling water. When it was delivered to her, she threw it on the flight attendant, scalding her. The Chinese male then said he wanted to blow up the plane, and the woman declared that she wanted to commit suicide. Dinner cutlery was also involved, although details were not available.
Other passengers got involved and subdued the couple as the Captain turned the plane around to return to the airport.
The couple and two others in her entourage were escorted off the plane and taken to the Don Mueang Police Station.
The flight attendant was treated and was not seriously injured
