SAN JOSE, CA – Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) marked 22 consecutive months of passenger traffic growth in October 2014, with a 7.1 percent increase in travelers compared to the same month last year. SJC served 801,209 departing and arriving passengers in October, for an overall calendar-year-to-date increase of 7.2 percent.
Passenger growth in October is attributed to airlines reporting strong passenger loads overall, and new or expanded nonstop service as follows:
– Alaska Airlines which inaugurated a daily flight to Salt Lake City in June, additional flights to Seattle and more seats to Honolulu;
– Delta Air Lines with new service to Seattle in May, and added capacity to Atlanta and Salt Lake City;
– Hawaiian Airlines’ resumption of daily wide-body service to Honolulu; and
– Southwest Airlines with more flights to Denver, Los Angeles and Seattle.
“During this season of thanks and everyday we are thankful for our Silicon Valley community for continuing to choose their hometown airport,” said Director of Aviation Kim Becker Aguirre. “Airport staff and our partners are committed to providing a safe, secure and on-time operation for our travelers. We appreciate our customers’ confidence in us.”
