PATA supports the successful International Mayor’s Forum on Tourism — Zhengzhou, China 2014.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is pleased to have supported the International Mayor’s Forum on Tourism in Zhengzhou, China, from November 15-17, 2014.

The event, generously hosted by the Henan Provincial Government, included three main topics for discussion: the development of tourism and leisure economy, boosting the adjustment of economic structure; interconnectivity of tourist industry and building international tourist destination; and the power of science to tourism and promoting the development of city tourism.

PATA Chairman Scott Supernaw delivered a key speech at the forum, which focused on the urgent need to address the issues of Human Capital Development within the region. He also highlighted PATA’s activities to address those concerns and its commitment to enhancing the value and quality of travel and tourism.

Mr Supernaw also delivered remarks at the World Tourism Cities’ Show on the third day of the forum and the need for sustainable and responsible development, noting “However it is important to highlight the need for sustainable development as far as the environment is concerned. The need to be careful with this development will have repercussions that will last for generations.”

After the forum, the PATA Chairman was interviewed by Henan Daily, Henan television and several other media delegates, which gave him the opportunity to put forward some valuable opinions for the development of Henan tourism.
