The number of passengers flying with Turkey’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, increased by 13.7 percent during the year’s first 10 months compared to the same period last year, the airline has said.

According to a statement by Turkish Airlines to the stock exchange, the airline witnessed a 13.9 percent increase in the number of passengers on domestic routes and a 13.6 increase of passengers on international flights, compared to the same January-to-October period last year.

The total number of passengers flying with Turkish Airlines was 46.2 million from January to October this year, up from 40.6 million year-on-year.

The airlines did not notice a change in the passenger occupancy rate, which remained at 79.5 percent.

The available seat kilometers performance – a measure of an airline flight’s passenger carrying capacity – increased by 16.9 percent, reaching 113.1 billion.

Turkish Airlines also recorded 90 billion units of revenue passenger-kilometers – a measure of the volume of passengers carried by an airline – from January to October this year, representing a 16.9 percent increase from the previous year.
