Hainan Airlines, a Chinese carrier that has been “going international” through the implementation of a globalization strategy and has progressively been adding international routes including Beijing-Chicago, Beijing-Boston, and Hangzhou-Xi’an-Paris over the last few years, has an increasing demand for multinational employees. In order to address this demand, the carrier has recruited flight attendants in Boston and Seattle in the US. This is first time that Hainan Airlines has recruited flight attendants outside of China.

Hainan Airlines successfully completed recruitment drives in Boston and Seattle in the middle of October, and is planning to launch job fairs in Shanghai and Beijing in the middle of November specifically targeting foreign-born residents in China.

“We have received thousands of applications, and finally selected 11 excellent candidates. They will become part of our cabin crew team,” explained the director responsible for the carrier’s foreign crew recruitment efforts. “We welcome talented individuals from different countries who have good communications skills, are enthusiastic about their work and feel self-confident and who would like to join Hainan Airlines’ cabin crew team.”

“Although we already have an international team, including crew members from Asia, Europe and Africa. Hainan Airlines is facing challenges from the differences in aviation development and in culture between China and other countries, and, as a result, we are taking steps to solve the challenges. We believe that with a growing number of flight attendants from around the world joining our workforce, Hainan Airlines will provide quality services for travelers worldwide.”

With a young fleet of high-end long-haul aircraft, including the Boeing 787 and the Airbus 330, Hainan Airlines operates international routes to Seattle, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Moscow and other cities worldwide.
