United Kingdom and Seychelles move with an innovative approach

SEYCHELLES – The recent announcement by Mr.

SEYCHELLES – The recent announcement by Mr. David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, to appoint business ambassadors to get the potential avaliable in the British Isles known is seen to be along the same line as was launched by the Indian Ocean Creole Islands of the Seychelles where President James Michel’s government has launched earlier this year tourism ambassadors to help get these paradise islands more visible accross the world.

The move this week by the British Prime Minister was seen as innovative, and it has been welcomed by the business community, eager to see Great Britain reclaim its rightful place in the business world. The Seychelles Tourism Board, a department falling directly under the Office of the Seychelles President, took the same approach earlier this year when they appointed over one hundred tourism ambassadors in over twenty-five countries accross the world. For the Seychelles, the tourism ambassadors have to be of Seychellois nationality in residence in the countries earmarked as potential tourism markets.

The CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mr. Alain St.Ange, also an ambassador for eTurboNews, explained that the Seychelles has embarked on the development of a style of tourism for the islands called the “Seychelles brand,” which is centered on people. “This is why we have launched the tourism ambassador program to empower our people, wherever they are in the world, to be foot soldiers of our tourism industry, which remains the pillar of the Seychelles Economy,” Alain St.Ange said.

The Seychelles, it is said, is happy with their innovative approach, which helps bring the color of the islands to trade fairs, as will be the case in London next week for the World Travel Market 2010. Seychelles is a country known for diversity in its population, which they claim remains one of their USPs (unique selling points). “We are the island known to have perpetual summer with the best beaches of the world, clear and clean turquoise blue seas, an eco-friendly tourism destination offering a ‘personalized tourism’ brand, which remains one of the safest tourism destinations,” the islands’ Tourism CEO, Alain St.Ange said.
