As I said at the time of the outbreak, the WTO should have stopped all flights for 3. 5 or 7 days (Depending on the information they had.)
This would have been very brave & intellegent AND the virus would have been starved to death, in the country of origin. Greatful nations could then have given aid to Mexico to cover medical costs, compensation and recovery costs.

You mention that the are under 300 dead of swine flu in Mexico compared to about 1000 dead in the USA. These statistics are simply false. Your line "...so please read before writing this stupid comment..." makes me think of a phrase. Do the words "pot" "kettle" and "black" give you any clues? Also, keep in mind that the USA has over three times the population of Mexico, and will proportionately be expected to have three times the number of cases even if they have the same levels of control. Additionally, # of cases does not always have much to do with methods of control. Prevention of swine flu is (in my opinion) 13% Government responsibility (collection of data, travel restrictions, CDC related tasks, supply distribution, etc...), 17% medical responsibility (patient care, analysis of illness, medication dosing, etc.), and 70% RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL with preventive measures. Demographics, lifestyle, population density, and ethnic factors also play into the equation. While Mexico is not to blame for the swine flu epidemic, please pay attention to the entire picture.

There is more chance of getting bugs in a doctors surgery. Hygiene is all. I am amazed how many people don't cover their mouths.
No point in restricting travel, its not going to help and it wont go away.

SO THINK WHO IS DOING BETTER IN THIS MATTER
I just returned from a 3 week jaunt through not too well traveled areas of China. Almost all hotels had thermometers in most rooms (temperature is taken under the arm which sometimes registers a bit higher than when done in mouth). Our last 2 nights in Anshan,
Inner Mongolia, there were two meds wearing masks and taking our temps while wearing our heavy outerwear being done in the lobby of the 5 star hotel. We all passed.
However with the concern China has for this flu their people should be better educated on how to cough and sneeze (into the crook of the arm and NOT in the hands), of course, people coughed into the air uncovered, sneezed into hands (unfortunately in public dining rooms and touching plates). A bit disconcerting.

Flu or no Flu people are still travelling and if you try to impose restrictions on travelling that's pressing the panic button ..More people die in road accidents every day - So does that mean , you ask people not to travel on the road ???

Heck, with all the doctors saying "it's not if, it's WHEN a worldwide Swine flu epidemic will take place, I figure, what's the point of putting travel restrictions to prevent something that's going to happen anyway? Travel on, I say!
JP.Bos on September 14, 2009 - 11:22am
Interesting to see so many people are against restrictions, what i do not see is the reply of one person who's family has been effected and her two children are in hospital because no one thought it was necessary to put restrictions in place. I guess that is the world we live in, is it more important to being able to do whatever we want than to take precautions? Do we really know what is going on here? Or is it all ok since is has not involved you or your loved ones?
We have been involved, and let me tell you this, it is scary as hell, specially when you see small children and babies involved!
I think we should get to the bottom of this, i agree that current shots and precautions have failed, nevertheless we should not let our guard down.
Prevention is better than cure, if a country has already been infected with the flue, well I suggest that they'd rather do scanning thoroughly and introduce better hygine facilities than imposing sanctions on innocent people. Let there be the freedom of traveling for it is the refreshment of mind and exploration of new ideas.
Since the "regular" flu kills more people each and every year than the swine flu has in its entire existence it does seem a bit ridiculous to make the proverbial mountain out of a molehill.
The regular flu kills nearly forty thousand people a year in the US and the last stats I saw showed the fline swu MAY have been responsible for 400 or so. This is all despite the fact that we already have vaccines and other preventative measures in place to prevent the spread of the regular influenza virus which is already substantially more deadly. Harming someone's economy and restricting somebody's ability to make a living by restricting tourism hardly seems beneficial to anyone.

I think all this swine flu hype is a farce.
A manufactured lie to manipulate peoples minds and sell them vaccines that don't even appear to be effective, according to a growing number of concerned medical professionals.
Garlic and Olive Leaf Extract would probably be a more effective flu treatment.

We can not stop people traveling, however we should be aware of the scope and certainly need to be well informed about the precautions we can take to protect our business and customers.

A lot of media pronouncement on the swine flu has been done already. So travel restriction is not good for the people and the economy.
Funny How Hong Kong can control it. If your sick GTFO.
I agree but there should not be restrictions because so many people are doing buisness in some other states they want to travel
Should take precautions but imposing restrictions is not correct.
