Daniel Shurz named Frontier Airlines' VP of strategy
Frontier Airlines said Monday it has appointed Daniel Shurz as vice president of strategy and planning.
The Denver-based carrier said Shurz will oversee Frontier's route planning and aircraft scheduling and will also manage strategic alliances and joint ventures.
Shurz was most recently VP for network planning and alliances with Air Canada and previously was director of business development for the Canadian carrier.
Earlier he was general manager of bus operations for the Chicago Transit Authority and was manager of domestic planning at United Airlines.
"I have known Daniel for several years; he will be a tremendous asset to our executive team," Frontier President/CEO Sean Menke said in a statement. "We are operating in an extremely competitive market and in an economy that has seen revenue declines across our industry. We will count on Daniel's experience and deep knowledge of the airline industry to develop the strategic and innovative revenue initiatives and alliances that will position Frontier for the significant growth that lies ahead."
Shurz received a bachelor's degree from Queens' College at University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, and an MBA in strategy, economics and international business from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
