Midwest Airlines said it plans to add new routes and schedules after reaching an agreement to expand its air services agreement with Republic Airways Holdings.

Under the initial order in the expanded agreement, Republic will fly two Embraer 190AR jets for Oak Creek-based Midwest. The jets will give Midwest the potential again to fly nonstop to West Coast destinations from its main hub at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport, Midwest chairman, president and CEO Timothy Hoeksema said in a press release.

Midwest will introduce the new service in August and September and will announce new routes and schedules in the near future. The airline did not say whether the flights would operate under the Midwest Airlines banner or the Midwest Connect banner. Republic flies Midwest Connect flights for the Oak Creek carrier.

The E190s will be configured to seat 100 passengers in a single cabin with seating choice that includes 20 Signature seats.

“Our expanded agreement with Republic allows us to leverage the cost efficiencies of a large regional airline, while providing our customers with service to more destinations,” Hoeksema said.

Hoeksema said the Embraer aircraft are part of a comprehensive fleet plan currently being finalized by Midwest.

Indianapolis-based Republic began flying for Midwest under the Midwest Connect brand in October 2008 and currently operates 12 76-seat Embraer 170 jets. Republic operates a total of 130 E-Jets on behalf of Midwest and its other partners, including Delta, United and US Airways.
