SKAL International President Aslantas continue “bridging cultures”

Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor Ahn, Sang-Soo personally attended the opening ceremony and welcomed the delegates expressing his continued commitment for the development of tourism in Incheon. World President Hulya Aslantas in her opening remarks, stressed the fact that they were especially honored to be in Incheon on the “2009 visit Incheon Year ” which also coincided with the 40th anniversary of Skal Seoul and the 75th anniversary of Skal International.
She has also mentioned that on such a milestone year for the organization together with all the members they were looking to repositioning Skal. Established 75 years ago in Paris, this global network, she added remains to be the first “grouping or first structured organisation” in travel and tourism which has survived and is today, the world’s largest civil initiative in tourism for senior professionals from all branches of the industry in almost 500 locations in 90 Countries and with a very solid structure of over 20,000 members.

Delegates in addition to their annual general assembly and networking sessions have truly enjoyed the exceptional hospitality of the Korean hosts, who have put together a very rich program to acquaint the participants with the destination and colorful traditions of Korea.

Among others on the opening night as pictured above, President of the Asian area Mr Earl Wieman, President of Seoul Adrian Slater, together with the World President Hulya Aslantas, Choi, Jae Geun President of Incheon tourism Organization and senior representatives have all together prepared the traditional Korean dish “Bibimbap” on the stage for the participants. Tourism professionals in Incheon are getting ready to form a new Skal club in their city and preparations are on the way to submit a bid for hosting the Skal World Congress in 2012.

Mr Gerry Perez from Guam, took over the presidency of the area from Mr Wieman who had completed his 4 years term.
