Visitors To Experience “50 Years of Fashion In Hawaii” during Ala Moana Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
Ala Moana Center, the world’s largest outdoor shopping center and Hawaii’s premier shopping and dining destination will celebrate its landmark 50th anniversary with over two weeks of fashion, fun, and festivities. The center’s 50th anniversary event schedule kicks off on August 13 with a special birthday celebration at Centerstage featuring a traditional Hawaiian blessing and an honorarium ceremony to congratulate the center’s original businesses and employees. The celebration then extends to the center’s 290 retailers with special offers, sales, gift-with-purchase promotions, in-store events and performances at Centerstage.
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration, Ala Moana Center and Hawaii Fashion Incubator will present “Fifty Years of Fashion in Hawaii”, and exhibition featuring garments from the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s impressive archived Costume Collection. Special feature displays include swimwear, aloha attire, and era-inspired fashion wear.
Visitors can also bring home a free collector’s keepsake by visiting the center’s U.S. Post Office from August 13-31 for an exclusive 50th anniversary cancellation stamp. Any mail item can be imprinted with the special cancellation stamp and Ala Moana’s Customer Service Cetner will offer a commemorative envelope for use with the stamp.
