Christoph Debus, 38 years old, will be joining the board of executive directors of Air Berlin PLC on June 1, 2009. He will take over responsibility for sales, network, and IT.

“We are pleased to have gained a proven aviation expert in Christoph Debus,” said Joachim Hunold, CEO of Air Berlin PLC.

Previously Debus had been managing director at another airline, Condor, where he was responsible for IT, controlling, personnel, bookkeeping, accounting, and finance for four years. His position at Condor also meant that he was a member of the airline executive board of Thomas Cook Group plc.

From March 1998 to the end of 2004 Debus, father of two sons, was employed by Roland Berger Management Consultants. As a partner at Roland Berger, his remit included industry, aviation, and tourism, as well as the car industry.

Debus studied industrial engineering at TU Darmstadt and the Ecole Centrale de Lyon.
