FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines announced today it will begin new service between its Dallas/Fort Worth hub (DFW) and San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL), beginning April 7. The new route will be available for sale this Sunday, Jan. 20.

American will fly the route four times a week with its 148-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which feature 16 seats in First Class and 132 seats in the Coach cabin.

"We have served San Salvador for more than 17 years now," said Peter Dolara, American's Senior Vice President - Mexico/Caribbean/Latin America. "This new service from Dallas/Fort Worth will nicely complement our existing service to San Salvador from Miami and Los Angeles. It opens up a host of convenient new connections from our largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth."

American is also a founding member of the global oneworld(R) Alliance, which serves nearly 700 destinations in 140 countries and territories.

"This is a testament to the power of having a strong international airline hub that helps drive our economy and is a magnet for new international air service," said Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert. "This terrific addition to DFW's portfolio will continue to expand the international reach of our region."

"It's great to see DFW's largest carrier continuing to expand its global profile," said Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief. "This new flight will not only help us increase international connections, it will also create additional tourism opportunities and build new business relationships for all of North Texas."

Southbound flights from DFW to San Salvador will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Northbound flights will operate from San Salvador to DFW will operate Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
