United Airlines settles pornography suit
SEATTLE - An attorney for a former United Airlines pilot says her client's lawsuit against the U.S. airline over pornographic items found on flights has been settled.
Attorney Victoria Vreeland confirmed a settlement has been reached in the case, preventing it from going to U.S. District Court, The Seattle Times said Monday. Vreeland said she could not offer specifics on the case due to a related nondisclosure agreement.
The lawsuit filed by Capt. Lisa Stout, according to court records, alleged the former United Airlines pilot routinely found pornographic photographs in airplane cockpits during domestic airline flights.
Between 2004 and 2005, Stout allegedly found such items on more than 20 United Airline flights.
The pilot sued the airline for not taking appropriate measures to catch the individuals leaving the photographs behind. The former airline employee also alleged she was the target of retaliation following her complaints.
The Times said Stout claimed in August 2005 she was unable to fly due to an unspecified condition related to the pornography discoveries.
