The Hong Kong Tourism Board has announced a number of new openings and developments that will be taking place in the Asian city this year and boosting its appeal to visitors.

One of the highlights of the coming year will be the unveiling of the Amazing Asian Animals exhibit at Ocean Park in April.

The new attraction, which is part of a major expansion project at Ocean Park, will house animals including a giant Chinese salamander, pandas, red pandas, birds, tortoises and more.

Hong Kong's Disneyland resort will also boost its appeal to tourists this year when it is increased in size by a third, which will allow the addition of three new themed areas.

A new Pirates of the Caribbean ride is set to be among the most popular developments at the park, as well as a Haunted House attraction.

Visitors to Hong Kong looking for some musical entertainment this year will be able to head to the Lyric Theatre between 15 May and 14 June to see a production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats.
