By gmanews.tv | Mar 09, 2009

MANILA, Philippines - Two Chinese divers were believed to have drowned Sunday while they were scuba diving in Central Philippines, reports reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City said.

The report identified the victims as Pang Chi Lung and Cheung Joanne Wai, who were both staying at Paradive Beach Resort in Barangay Punta Engaño in Cebu province.

Initial investigation showed the victims went scuba diving in Barangay Tinggo in Olango Island but failed to come out of the water after 40 minutes, prompting Cheung Hung Kam, their instructor, to dive and look for them.

The report quoted Cheung as saying that the two were already unconscious when he found them. The two were rushed to Mactan Doctor’s Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.

According to Paradive representative Devora Figuroa, the victims arrived last March 6 and brought along with them some diving equipments from Hongkong.

The bodies of Pang and Cheung were brought to Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes. An autopsy is yet to be conducted, the report said.
