60-day South African expedition to promote bilaterial relations

A group of 30 international explorers will be embarking on 60 days of driving from Durban, South Africa, to the Kingdom of Lesotho.

A group of 30 international explorers will be embarking on 60 days of driving from Durban, South Africa, to the Kingdom of Lesotho. The major purpose of an expedition from Durban, South Africa, to the Kingdom of Lesotho is to promote the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Lesotho and Malaysia.


The Overland 4×4 Tourism Expedition SDN. BHD. is a Malaysia-based company. The entry point in Lesotho is Sani Pass in the eastern part of the country, along the Drakensburg Mountains. They will be in 10 units of 4x4s and represented by participants from various countries – Malaysia, India, Singapore, China, Australia, and Thailand.

Initially, the participants’ vehicles will be shipped from Port Klang to Durban. On April 18, 2017, the explorers will enter Lesotho through Sani Pass. They will be in Lesotho for 4 days. The will further build a close friendship with the Basotho extending a “hand of friendship.” They will also participate in the “Kick4Life” exercise. Kick4Life (K4L) is the first football club exclusively dedicated to social change to transform lives of vulnerable young people in Lesotho. It also promotes long-term sustainable development in the Mountain Kingdom.


In their stay in the Kingdom of Lesotho, the explorers will meet the Basotho from the grassroots, business, and sports teams, including Kick4Life. They will stay in the K4L Hotel and Conference Centre in Maseru. They will also visit places of tourism attraction working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho. The High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Malaysia wishes them well in their stay in Lesotho and their exploration from Cape Town. South Africa, which will commence on April 27, 2017 right through to Mombasa, Kenya, which will be the exit point back to their various countries on June 11, 2017.
