Tourism in Yemen: ICTP will be ready to assist when security improves

Not only is it challenging to visit Yemen right now, it is flat out dangerous.

Not only is it challenging to visit Yemen right now, it is flat out dangerous. Countries around the world warn against all travel to Yemen because of the high security threat level posed by ongoing conflicts and terrorist activities.

The International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP), an alliance of destinations and their stakeholders in 135 countries working on โ€œGreen Growth + Quality = Business,โ€ is not untouched by todayโ€™s challenges and security situation in the world.

Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of ICTP said: “In 2007, we supported the National Hotel and Tourism Institute (NAHOTI) which was established by the Yemeni Government with the financial support of the European Commission and the technical assistance of the German Education and Training organization. I visited Sanaa, the largest city in Yemen and the center for government, as well as a local hospitality school operating a fully-functioning hotel with meeting facilities. I was impressed by the excitement from local students in Yemen who want to work in this industry. The current security situation they are living with is shocking, and ICTP will be there for our friends in Yemen, once tourism can be promoted again. I hope this will be the case very soon.”

The two remaining members in Yemen are the Ministry of Tourism Yemen http://ictp.travel/ministry-of-tourism-yemen/ and the Yemen Tourism Promotion Board (YTPB). http://ictp.travel/yemen-tourism-promotion-board-ytpb/ The promotion board has been seen at trade shows around the globe including:

– EMITT Exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey
– BIT Exhibition in Milan, Italy
– ITB Exhibition in Berlin, Germany
– MATTA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
– ATM Exhibition in Dubai, UAE
– BITE Exhibition in Beijing, China
– JATA Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan
– Top Resa Exhibition in Paris, France
– WTM Exhibition in London, UK

Yemen is Arabia’s undiscovered gem. It is a country where one can find the world’s oldest skyscrapers, spectacular mountaintop villages, pristine coral reefs, and stunningly gorgeous trees not seen anywhere else on Earth.

Visitors can journey through one of the world’s largest expanses of sand, or marvel at greenery so lush one would wonder if s/he were in Arabia.

This is a country that breathes history through every pore, not only through its ancient ruins and monuments, but also through its traditions and culture which remain a part of everyday life.

Very little is known about the real Yemen. So much so that when visitors travel across the country, it is almost always a beautiful voyage of discovery.

The International Coalition of Tourism Partners is a coalition of tourism destinations and their stakeholders in 135 countries with headquarters in Hawaii, Brussels, Seychelles, and Bali. The Coalition believes in GREEN GROWTH + QUALITY = BUSINESS.
