Montréal’s 375th anniversary celebrations February program released

The Society for the Celebration of Montréal’s 375th Anniversary – a non-profit organization whose mission is to organize the celebrations and socioeconomic contributions that will highlight Montréal’s 375th anniversary in 2017, has released official February program of events.

World snowmobiling champions perform jaw-dropping aerial tricks in downtown Montréal for the first time ever.

February 4th and 5th – Square Philips, Ste-Catherine street between Union and Place Philips

Feu, feu, joli feu, un karaoké des bois

Les Amis de la Place Marcelle-Ferron, a group of citizens who are committed to public art and promoting the artistic and social thought of Marcelle Ferron, are organizing three song-filled evenings around the campfire exploring. These activities will illustrate the variety of music for different occasions: songs of First Nations, early French settlers, songs of the first inhabitants at the time of Outremont’s founding, and current songs.

February 5th starting at 3 pm – Parc St-Viateur

Snow Moon by bike

A magical winter moonlit bike ride through the streets of Montreal! As part of the Montreal 375th Anniversary Hivernales celebrations, cycling and winter enthusiasts are invited to take part in a luminescent parade of bikes along a 3.75-km route. Seasoned cyclists can up the ante and add a 10 or 15-km jaunt to the Olympic Stadium to the excursion.

February 11, 2017 – Downtown, Old Montréal

Montréal Ice Canoe Challenge

It’s two exhilarating days of heart-pumping competition as top-level athletes race their canoes across more than 10 metres of the glacial St. Lawrence River. Come out and cheer on Captain Mylène Paquette and her VIVE MONTRÉAL 375 crew, or one of the dozens of other teams, for a fun-filled skill testing day on Saturday or the spectacular race on Sunday.

Montreal Hypothermic Half Marathon

To all runners, young and old: time to lace up for the Montreal Hypothermic Half-Marathon. This year, we’ve added two races to the line-up . For this 12th edition, participants can opt for the 21.1-km, 10.55-km, or 2-person relay that covers a double circuit.

This year, the event is open to everyone. So come alone, with friends, or sign up the whole family for an activity that’s unique. Kids, adults, and seasoned athletes should start warming up for this unique 5-km, 25-obstacle course

MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE sheds new light on curling, by taking the time-honoured game outdoors and to dazzling new heights. For a truly unique interactive experience, try your hand tossing the rocks against the brilliant backdrop of a light and sound performance.

Illuminart

The massive Illuminart project is a program of technological works launched as part of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE and the festivities of the 375th anniversary of Montreal. This program of many installations located in the Quartier des spectacles and elsewhere in the Ville-Marie arrondissement.

Quartiers improvisés (Improvised Neighborhoods)

Quartiers improvisés are 13 happenings in public spaces that showcase the Quartiers improvisés comedians and invited guests from different improv troupes in the city.

The Outremont Yard: Railroad Memories

The SHpeHS has collaborated with the Société d’histoire to create a project that includes a Nuit Blanche MTL screening of films about trains, an exhibition about the old CP yard, and a history walking trail around the former yard The new Université de Montréal campus and the industries that flourished there.
