In keeping with its recent major renovation stressing historic Peruvian and Andean themes, in conjunction with its 10-year anniversary in 2017, Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel has created an evocative new video that immerses viewers in the spiritual and mystical legacy of the legendary Inca citadel.

Furthering this concept of cultural authenticity in hospitality, the hotel was also rebranded with a new slogan that informs the video: Feel the Andean wisdom from within.

โ€œTen years ago, Sumaq became the first hotel in Machu Picchu to offer visitors an authentic Peruvian experience,โ€ said Angie Clavijo, general manager of the award-winning luxury property at the foot of South Americaโ€™s premier tourism attraction. โ€œAs we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2017, we want to powerfully illustrate how Sumaq creates the opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in an ancient culture and embark on a spiritual journey to the heart of historic Peru,โ€ Ms. Clavijo explained. โ€œOur new video combines breathtaking visuals, lyrical music and compelling narrative to give potential visitors an extraordinary insight into the mystery of Peru, and how Sumaq sets the scene for magical moments and experiences that open up new perspectives for our guests.โ€

The rich and emotional visuals of the video take the viewer on a journey into the Andes Mountains, exploring ancient sites, spiritual connections and the lifestyle experiences at culturally themed Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, while a shaman-inspired narrator poetically defines the journey.

The key component of the recent renovation โ€“ which included guest rooms and public spaces โ€“ was to expand and enhance the Peruvian experience for guests while increasing comfort and enjoyment with additional world-class modern amenities. The inspiration for the redo centered on the Chakana, the Andean cross whose arms symbolize the four elements of nature: Fire, Water, Earth and Air. The elements were expressed through the use of handcrafted art, indigenous materials and decorative elements made with traditional techniques, such as masks and vases. Instilling cultural identity to the design, master artisans from the Sacred Valley of Cusco and Lurรญn created works for the hotel inspired by the Pre-Columbian art of Peruโ€™s most accomplished and illustrious cultures who left significant artistic legacies, the Moche and the Inca. The symbolism, cosmology and legacy of the past are meshed with the luxury lifestyle of today.

Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel is spectacularly located on the banks of the Vilcanota River in Aguas Calientes at the base of Peruโ€™s internationally celebrated ancient Inca site. The luxury property with 62 rooms and suites offers an exclusive guest experience infused with Inca influences and luxury amenities, services and appointments. Service is delivered with extraordinary attention to detail, ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction. Preparing authentic gourmet Peruvian cuisine, Qunuq Restaurant creates innovative and unique dishes that introduce ancient culinary traditions and exciting flavors to travelers and foodies.

Aqlla Spa makes its own indigenous products with regional ingredients and incorporates historic Inca techniques in its treatments. Suquy Cafรฉ & Bar mixes international and exotic native cocktails focusing on Peruvian herbs and fruits. Rather than do the exhausting mass-tourism day trip from Cusco, Sumaq Machu Picchuโ€™s guests fully experience Machu Picchu and the local Andean culture with the hotelโ€™s proximity and ease of access to the legendary archaeological site and an array of indigenous culinary, cultural and nature experiences, from a Peruvian cooking class to renewing vows in an Andean wedding conducted by a shaman to hiking, climbing and bird watching.
