Oman Air will from the 27th of March 2017 commence service between Muscat and Nairobi, using a Boeing B737-800NG for the initial three flights a week.

The flights will leave Oman on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday as WY721 at 14.50 hrs local time, arriving in the Kenyan capital at 18.55 hrs local East African time. The return service WY722 will then leave Kenya at 00.45 hrs the next day and land back in Muscat the following morning at 06.50 hrs, again all times local.

This will give travelers using Oman Air connectivity out of Muscat to Nairobi and on the return flight into the airline’s international network covering the Gulf, India and beyond.

There has been speculation for some time about this flight possibly routing via Mombasa, where, like in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, a significant number of Omanis or people with ties and roots in Oman live, but no confirmation has been received that the announced service will eventually extend to cover the Kenya coast.

In a related development it was also reported that Oman Air will take delivery of their first Boeing B787-9 early next year, as part of a four Dreamliner aircraft order.

These state of the art planes will be launched with a brand new First Class product besides incorporating the latest seat products in Business and Economy classes too, offer new menu selections and a significantly improved inflight entertainment program. The present fleet reportedly stands at 47 aircraft.

Also coming on line in 2017 will be Manchester in the United Kingdom with daily flights, adding a second UK destination after London which is served double daily.
