Qatar Airways has been honored for the fifth year in row as Best Middle East Airline Serving China at the 2016 Business Traveller China Awards.

The Doha-based carrier also claimed the 2016 World Traveller Awardsโ€™ Airline with the Best In-flight Entertainment Award and was named one of 2016 Top 10 Airlines by Travel + Leisure China, adding to its illustrious collection of accolades this November.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: โ€œWe are proud to have once again been recognised as the Best Middle East Airline serving China by Business Traveller China. We take pride in offering a premium product that is second to none in the market today. We remain committed to providing our China-based passengers with unparalleled in-flight and on-the-ground products and services, while creating memorable travel experiences for this important market.โ€

Running for over a decade, the Business Traveller China Awards have created an industry-wide benchmark for excellence in China. The awards are decided based on readersโ€™ votes with the results authenticated by an independent auditing company. Readers consist of frequent travellers in China who cast their vote for the top airline and hospitality organisations in the industry.

Qatar Airways North Asia Vice President Mr. Paul Johannes accepted the Business Traveller China Award on behalf of the airline.

Commenting on the trio of award wins, Mr. Johannes said: โ€œWe are delighted to be receiving these three awards in quick succession here in China this November. The awards are testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence in all that we do โ€“ be it from offering the best premium product today, to the extensive Oryx One in-flight entertainment system that is made available to all passengers travelling with us in both Premium and Economy cabins. On behalf of Qatar Airways, I would like to extend my gratitude to our valued passengers who have travelled with us and voted for us.โ€

Qatar Airways began operations to China in 2003 with the launch of non-stop flights to Shanghai, with the airline further expanding its Greater China network over the following decade with the addition of Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Chengdu and Hangzhou.

This year travellers have continued to see Qatar Airways expand its global reach, with over a dozen new destinations to explore. To date in 2016, the airline has launched new routes to Adelaide, Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Helsinki, Los Angeles, Marrakech, Pisa, Ras Al Khaimah, Sydney, Windhoek, Yerevan and Krabi and the Seychelles will join the airlineโ€™s network in December. The airline plans to launch an array of exciting destinations in 2017, including Auckland, which will be the worldโ€™s longest commercial flight.

For travellers who are keen to turn their transit time into a stopover to experience the sights and sounds of Doha, they can now do so with the complimentary 96 hours transit visa*. Offered in partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority, transiting passengers can explore at ease the various highlights Doha has to offer โ€“ from the world-renowned Museum of Islamic Art to the Katara Cultural Village or desert safaris and much more.
