Seychelles will be joining the rest of the world from September 24-28 to celebrate the successes of its tourism industry as it absorbs the successes of the global tourism industry.

The theme chosen for this yearโ€™s World Tourism Day which falls on September 27 is “Tourism for all – promoting universal accessibility.”

Several activities have been planned by the Seychelles Tourism Board during the 5 days, dubbed as Tourism Week.

The Seychelles Tourism Ball is the first event on the Tourism Week program. It will be held at the Eden Bleu hotel on September 24 from 6:30 pm until 1:30 am. This event continues to rally everyone interested in the islandsโ€™ tourism industry and is an opportunity for the public and private sector to mingle and exchange ideas in a casual environment.

During this gala night, there will be an auction sale, 2 raffle draws, and the unveiling of the โ€œMiss Seychellesโ€ฆanother worldโ€ 2017 poster.

Key tourism personalities who have played vital roles in the development of the Seychellesโ€™ tourism industry will be honored in a ceremony at the Seychelles Tourism Academy. Their names will be placed at the “Tourism Pioneer Park” at the Seychelles Tourism Academy, La Misรจre. “This is but the start of recognizing those who have worked to help get our islands where it is today. The list will be added on progressively,” said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture.

New on the Tourism Week program this year is the tourism forum which will be held on September 27 at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles. The forum will be held under the theme “Seychelles – the bridge between Africa and Asia through tourism and transport.”

The Tourism Board has also kept its annual meet-and-greet at the airport for passengers arriving on September 27.

Tourism Week will end on September 28 with a mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral at noon whereby members of the public are invited to attend.
