The United Airlines Tower at Terminal C in Newark International Airport was shut down due to two power outages, causing delays for travelers for over 2 hours.
This also caused gate holds and taxi delays.
The first outage occurred at approximately 5:05 pm, and the second outage followed around 15 minutes later. Power was restored around 45 minutes later, but then went out again, and was completely resorted at 7:30 pm.
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) issued a traffic management program, for traffic coming into the airport.
