LOS ANGELES, California – Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh is an upscale 5-star beachfront property located in Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai on Naama Bay in Egypt. All 298 rooms and 4 duplex villas feature direct sea views and Arabesque-inspired decor.

Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh was recently re-certified by Green Globe for the fifth consecutive year earning the resort the coveted Green Globe Gold Status.

Mr. Yahya Kotub, General Manager at the hotel said, “We are pleased to once again achieve Green Globe certification, as their goals are consistent with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts – to raise awareness of the need for sustainable development, responsible tourism industry practices and conservation of the world’s natural resources.”

A comprehensive audit was undertaken by FARNEK, Green Globe’s preferred partner. The hotel achieved a notable compliance score of 83% in recognition of its dedication to best practices.

The hotel consistently focuses on environmental practices and CSR initiatives in the community. A warm and welcoming organic farm is located inside the property grounds covering 875 meters and includes fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. The garden produces approximately 1,760 kilograms of vegetables and fruits such as cabbage, broccoli and tomatoes. It is a wonderful, authentic farm experience offered to the guests to make their stay more memorable. Although fruits are seasonal, a visit is worthwhile year round. Fresh produce is harvested and used in the hotel’s kitchens whenever possible.

Three times a year more than 30 employees participate in clean-up campaigns that are organized to support the preservation of the beautiful surroundings of Sharm El-Sheikh. In addition, in line with its Guest Loyalty program, the hotel has a tradition where staff plant olive trees with guests to commemorate their regular stays. The trees grow to become one with the natural scenery thereby raising environmental awareness and also reducing the effects of carbon emissions.

Mövenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh proudly supports charitable events to give back to the community. As part of Orphans Day Celebrations, 220 children from the South Sinai Governorate are invited to play at the property’s equestrian stables and financial donations are given to orphanages. Staff also collected more than 100 pieces of clothing and footwear from guests that will be given to the underprivileged Bedouins in the local community. Furthermore, linen and amenities are donated to the Al-Amal Charity Association.
