JetBlue launches new Aruba flights

NEW YORK, NY – JetBlue today announced it is launching service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA).

NEW YORK, NY – JetBlue today announced it is launching service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA). Daily flights between South Florida and the popular Caribbean destination take off January 4, 2017.

“We are thrilled to announce more Fort Lauderdale growth and new non-stop service to Aruba,” said Dave Clark, vice president network planning at JetBlue. “With miles of picturesque beaches, a variety of outdoor and beach activity options and fantastic resorts Aruba continues to be a destination JetBlue customers can’t get enough of. With new flights from Fort Lauderdale we are making it easier than ever to get to Aruba no matter where our customers are flying from.”

JetBlue currently serves Aruba from its New York-JFK and Boston focus cities with daily flights. It also offers weekly Mint flights seasonally from both airports, which feature the airline’s successful premium service with lie-flat seating and tapas style dining. Mint from New York launches September 10, 2016 and from Boston on November 5, 2016. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood service will provide a third nonstop Aruba gateway and allow for convenient connections from across the growing JetBlue network

“Of Aruba’s total 1.22 million stay-over visitors in 2015, we welcomed a 7.7 percent increase in U.S. travelers,” said Otmar Oduber, Minister of Tourism, Transportation, Primary Sector and Culture. “As Aruba grows annually, JetBlue remains a valuable partner in accommodating the increased demand for travel to our One happy island — where year-round sunshine, award winning beaches and diverse culture are only the beginning of the Aruba adventure.”

“Aruba’s expanded partnership with JetBlue will continue to raise our island’s tourism to new heights,” said Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of Aruba Tourism Authority. “This new daily service allows Aruba to cater to our key Ft. Lauderdale market — while also serving as a crucial feeder market for U.S. westerners who have shown an increased propensity to visit Aruba in recent years.”

This is the latest in a series of announcements from JetBlue regarding new service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood where the airline is the largest carrier and where it intends to grow to up to 140 daily flights in the coming years. Already this year, JetBlue has added or announced new nonstop destinations including Nashville, Tenn., New Orleans, San Diego, Barbados, and Quito, Ecuador. Later this week, JetBlue will launch service to Santa Clara, Cuba, the first of four Cuban cities the airline tentatively plans to serve from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, subject to receipt of government operating authority.
