Last Saturday as Minister Joel Morgan, the island’s Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs and Transport was officially opening the New Passenger Terminal at the Inter-Island Quay in Victoria in the presence of Minister Alain St.Ange responsible for Tourism and Culture, Garry Albert, the Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Ports Authority, representatives from the local DMCs (Destination Management Company), high officials from the Seychelles Ports Authority and of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Administration and other guests when he announced to Seychelles that Air Seychelles was intending to increase the number of its flights to Paris.
“This year I believe we are on the right path for a great increase in the number of tourists coming to Seychelles” the Minister said before announcing the possibility of increasing flight frequencies from Paris, France from three to a possible five or seven which will allow for a big increase in the number of tourists from Europe coming on those direct flights. Minister Morgan said this follows discussions with Segolene Royale, the French Minister responsible for the Environment, Energy and the Sea. “Madame Segolene Royale was in Seychelles recently where an agreement was reached for the increase in flight frequencies” said Minister Morgan.
Minister Alain St.Ange, the island’s Minister of Tourism and Culture said that he welcomed the news of increased non-stop direct flight between Paris and Seychelles. “France remains to date the key source market for our Tourism Industry and Europe has been and remains key to the success of our tourism industry. Increasing direct non-stop flights between Paris and Seychelles will be a big boost to the country’s tourism industry” Minister St.Ange said.
