Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority  Aug 02, 2016

There is a wealth of accommodation to choose from in Mauritius – ranging from small- to medium-sized hotels and charming villas right through to luxury resorts.

Each are as welcoming as the next, and offer the same exemplary levels of service. There are twelve major hotel groups in Mauritius: Accor, Apavou Hotels, Attitude Resorts, Beachcomber, Club Med, Constance Hotels, Indigo Hotels and Resorts, Lux Island Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Sun Resorts, Veranda Resorts and Heritage Resorts, and One&Only Resorts.

The natural charm of the country and the tax incentives offered by the government have also attracted other reputable international hotel chains such as Four Seasons, Hilton, Intercontinental, Maritim, Le Meridien, Oberoi, Sofitel, and Centara Hotels & Resorts.

Surrounded by white, sandy, spotless beaches enclosed by safe turquoise lagoons, Mauritius offers a wide range of small- and medium-sized hotels where one can experience a homey and cozy atmosphere.

These establishments cater to individual and leisure travelers as well as small incentive groups and business travelers, placing emphasis on “the human touch,” customized services, and delicious home-cooking – Mauritian style.

The small- and medium-sized hotels of Mauritius are grouped under local associations: the Authentic Hotels & Guest Houses, Mauritius; members of AHRIM (Association Des Hoteliers et Restaurateurs – Ile Maurice); and the Association Des Hotels De Charme (AHC).

With the growth experienced since years of tremendous effort of promoting Mauritius as a quality destination, Mauritius is now a multi-sector tourism industry.

ATO is the industry Association that regroups operators from the accommodation sector operating under different type of licenses for instance hotels, bungalows, tourist residence and guest houses from the Tourism Authority. Its objective is to ensure that guests to have a wide range of different accommodation types and to satisfactorily meet their budget. The association has its own standards to make clients reach a satisfaction level equal to what they have spent. Visitors can choose to stay in resorts as well as budget hotels and other quality standard accommodation depending on the travel group sizeindividuals, small group of families, etc.

The largest Inbound tour operators are regrouped with the Association of Inbound Operators (Mauritius) AIOM.
