Cologne back to normal after Turkish demonstrations

Cologne today was in the spotlight. 30,000 Turkish protesters were expected to demonstrate for the Turkish President Erdogan in Cologne and on German soil. These protesters were expected to be met by Turkish opponents and German rightwing groups.

At 6:50 pm today, Cologne is almost back to normal. There was a minute of silence for Turkish victims after the attempted overthrow of the government, but the rest of the demonstration went peacefully.
 

A massive army of police brought in from many parts of Germany did a great job to keep both camps under control. The result is now a peaceful night, some Koelsch Bier and the beautiful tolerant city by the Cathedral can remain one of the most attractive destination for travel and tourism.
