The Munich police chief said the attack suspect was an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich. It is not clear what his motive may have been in the shooting, during which he used a pistol. The three men that were seen fleeing the scene of the attack were not involved in the shooting.

The Munich police sent a robot to inspect the dead body found approximately one kilometer from the shooting just hours ago at the Olympia Einkaufszentrum shopping center.

It is believed this male, who appears to have committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, was the suspected gunman and likely the sole shooter.

Explosive experts are examining a backpack found on the dead man.

Latest reports indicate 10 were killed in the shooting, and 21 were sent to nearby hospitals.

The police gave a conservative all clear, and public transit in Munich is running again.

Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer called for flags to fly at half-staff on all state buildings.
