On the other side tweets received minutes ago say the parliament building in Ankara has been bombed. Walls coming down. Lots of smoke.

More tweets report about explosions heard in Istanbul. Earlier reports confirmed 17 dead police officers in Ankara after an attack by the Turkish Air Force.

Reports are sketchy, confusing and the situation may be getting violent and out of hand.

Visitors should remain in hotel rooms. It’s main holiday season in Europe and resorts in Turkey are booked with tourists from all over Europe and beyond. As of today no flights are operating.
President Erawan is on his way to Ankara. Speculations he was seeking asylum in Germany had not been confirmed.
