Hawaii “local boy,” Robert Hisatomi, has his roots in Hawaii and as an adult, he worked in various locations with Pan Am airline. He was recently named General Manager of GSA North America for the China Eastern Aviation Equipment Manufacturing (AEM) Corporation.

At Pan Am, Robert was the head of the Shanghai Division, and remained in the same position when United Airlines took over Pan Am’s Pacific Division. Subsequently, he was appointed District Manager (East China) at Northwest Airlines.

Robert has remained in China for 33 years and has held senior consulting positions with numerous Chinese and international entities. He now splits his time between Shanghai and Honolulu.



China Eastern AEM manufactures quality airport ground equipment, both powered and manual. Their product line includes mobile passenger boarding steps for a wide range of aircraft types, pushback tugs, and baggage and cargo loaders. They manufacture pallets and pallet dollies of various sizes, as well as catering and lavatory trucks. CEA also produces a unique narrow-body passenger loading “solar”-powered steps. China Eastern Aviation Equipment Manufacturing is headquartered in Pudongxin District, Shanghai.
