LOS ANGELES, California – Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is on its own beautiful peninsula set on four hectares of gardens by the sea in Monaco. Stylish and smart, the resort features neo-classical architecture and boasts sweeping views of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and the Monte-Carlo Beach complex.

Green Globe recently certified the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort for the third consecutive year.

The hotel has been actively engaged in improving its sustainable performance over the last year. The Bay Be Green Team schedules weekly green meetings where feedback on ongoing projects and the launch of new actions and initiatives are discussed. Members consist of managers and staff from different departments to encompass all facets of operations. Bay Be members also conduct 4-hour interactive training programs on sustainability for all new employees.

Working with local organizations, the hotel aims to make a difference in its community. Throughout 2015, an inter-departmental contest was held for the association Les Bouchons dโ€™Amour which collects plastic bottle caps and helps provide equipment, such as wheelchairs, to disabled people. The hotel also offered a donation of โ‚ฌ800 to a local association chosen by the winning section, the Housekeeping department.

In collaboration with Solidarpole, Michelin starred Chef Marcel Ravin and the hotel team prepared and served a lunch for 200 people in need. Furthermore, a container was set up to collect all types of textiles including used clothing and shoes for the Pacome association that recycles or donates items to those in need.

Ecological concerns have been targeted at Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. In collaboration with the Association Monรฉgasque pour la Protection de la Nature (Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature), the property provides meeting rooms and catering for meetings and events run by the organization. The hotel also acts as an official sentinel, warning the association of any intrusion by motorized boats or jet skis within the Principalityโ€™s Marine Reserve located just next to the hotel.

Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort has devised creative ways to raise awareness about sustainable development. Over the last three years, the hotel has participated in Monacology, a one-week educational village for schools of the Principality. Activities are organized that inform young children about issues such as food waste and the importance of recycling actions. And to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the hotel, a special video for staff was produced, based on the MidNight Oil song โ€œBeds are Burningโ€. The video was a combination of sustainable messages and pride of being part of the fantastic Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort team.

To improve communications and keep motivation at a high level, an inter-service contest was launched between various departments including Food & Beverage, maintenance, purchasing and housekeeping. Each section highlighted eco-responsible acts undertaken within their team or in relation to their expertise and presented it to the entire hotel team via the dedicated Green Wall.

The hotel adheres to comprehensive environmental guidelines. In comparison to last yearโ€™s figures, electricity consumption has been reduced by 8.1% and water consumption dropped by 3.7%. Furthermore, digital signatures for specific internal procedures have been extended. This will save paper and power thereby improving overall hotel operations efficiency and allow more time to attend to guest needs.
