Tourists and taxis and cabs: Oh my!

Uber will suddenly feel a cold wind in its face as the first of two more app-based taxi-hailing services launch transportation services in Kenya.

With some 400 drivers, and just days ahead of Safaricom-supported โ€œLittle Cab,โ€ โ€œTaxifyโ€ has launched its services.

Taxify intends to rapidly roll out into Mombasa as well, Uberโ€™s second Kenyan destination, and has already announced that more towns across Kenya will be added rapidly like Kisumu and Nakuru, and intends to have as many as 7,000 drives on call when fully operational.

Plenty of choices now for tourists on how to move around Nairobi, although hotel limousines remain another convenient option as they are charged directly to a guest’s room account eliminating the need to carry too much cash.
