HONG KONG – Jointly organized by the Airport Authority and the Labor Department, the Hong Kong International Airport Career Expo 2016 was officially opened to public today.

As one of the key members of the local aviation industry, Hong Kong Airlines provides about 1000 job vacancies at the Expo, attracting overwhelming response from job seekers on the first day.

An opening ceremony was held on the afternoon of 10 June, with Mr C K Ng, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong, Mr Yau Shing-mu, JP, Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing, and Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare as the guests of honor. The senior management team led by Mr. Ben Wong, Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Airlines, greeted the officiating guests at Hong Kong Airlines’ booth and presented them the Company’s recruitment situation and latest development.

Job seekers who are interested in the aviation industry flocked into the Expo after the official opening. During the first day of the event, hundreds of applicants visited the booth of Hong Kong Airlines for consultation and submitted application forms and CVs. Many job seekers queued up for the on-site interview of cabin crew and ground services positions. Other positions including those of Engineering also attracted a number of job seekers who submitted the application forms there.

The Company’s booth outstands among the recruiters as it features two cartoon characters “Flying Maid” and “Ground Staff Ching Ching”, which are jointly designed by a cabin crew and a ground service staff of the Company and HAGSL respectively, demonstrating the positive work environment of the airline. In addition, visitors gathered enthusiastically at the booth’s Visual Reality zone to experience the airline’s Business Class service. Applicants for cabin crew were active in trying the VR device to have an idea of their future cabin workplace. Hong Kong Airlines is the only recruiter at the Expo who deploys the innovative VR technology in recruitment in concert with the Company’s brand concept “Fresh and Very Hong Kong”.
