Jin Air signed further contracts and Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with Hawaii’s regional airline Island Air, Cambodia’s national airline Cambodia Angkor Air and Laos’ national airline Lao Airlines to expand its flight routes with international carriers. Jin Air also concluded recently its first interline contract with Jetstar Group, one of the biggest low-cost airlines in the Asia-Pacific, in April.
Interline agreement is a partnership between airlines which both parties can link and sell their flight routes collectively. Partnering airlines handle their flight tickets together with their counterparts’ tickets or tour packages starting from the initial reservation stage. This allows both airlines to benefit from the expanded flight network brought by the agreement.
-MOUs concluded with Cambodia Angkor Air (2 Jun) and Lao Airlines (3 Jun)
Jin Air signed MOUs with Cambodia Angkor Air and Lao Airlines in their headquarters on 2 and 3 June respectively, for future interline agreements. They decided to cooperate in flight route developments and support on facilities, equipment and information for safe flights. Details on the formal contracts, including flight route connection and establishment of relevant systems, will be discussed later. The interlinkage of Jin Air’s flight paths and the domestic and international flights of the two carriers will be reviewed.
-The interline agreement concluded with Island Air (20 May)
Prior to this, Jin Air signed a formal interline contract with Hawaii’s regional airline Island Air on 20 May. The Korean low-cost carrier has started to prepare for connecting its flights with Island Air’s routes within this year. With Island Air’s flight network covering various Hawaiian Islands, Korean travelers who fly with Jin Air to Honolulu will be able to navigate to and explore on other Hawaiian islands easily.
“We expect to reinforce our airline network in Southeast Asia and the Hawaiian region through these interline agreements,” said an official from Jin Air. “We will discuss further cooperation on promotions, sales and marketing in a variety of ways so that both airlines can leverage the synergy created through the collaboration.”
