Small plane crashed on island of Kauai in Hawaii

HANAPEPE, Kauai, Hawaii – At 9:30 in the morning today, a small plane crashed near Port Allen Airport, also known as Burns Field, in Hanapepe on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

Fire officials confirmed that five adults died in the fiery plane crash. Their names have not yet been released.

Four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene and one adult male was taken to Wilcox Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The single-engine plane was taking people up for a skydiving tour, with a pilot, 2 instructors, and 2 tandem jumpers on board. The plane was a home-built Vans RV6 aircraft.

The DOT along with firefighters, medics, and the police are looking into what caused the plane to crash.
