Guam Tourism with FestPac puts the Blue Continent in the global spotlight

The blue continent is in the spotlight of the world today, and the center is the American island of Guam. It’s a cultural and tourism event only happening every 4 years and of a very special nature.

The blue continent is in the spotlight of the world today, and the center is the American island of Guam. It’s a cultural and tourism event only happening every 4 years and of a very special nature.

Today is the opening of FestPac. FestPac is a celebration of cultures. Attending are a wide range of cultural groups and nationalities from Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia in the Pacific Ocean.

It will showcase the family oriented lifestyle, characterized by a solidified community. Visitors from around the globe will learn and experience cultures and customs as well as traditions based on ancient principles that promote honor and nobility. Traditional music, dance, food, storytelling, music along with art will be found at the 12th festival of Pacific Arts which will open today.

Participating countries and islands are:

American Samoa
American Samoa’s islands are located in the heart of the Polynesian, with Hawaii, Rapanui (Easter Island) and New Zealand making up the three points of the Polynesian triangle.

Australia
Australia is a country, and continent, surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. Its major cities โ€“ Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide โ€“ are coastal, but its capital, Canberra, is inland and nicknamed the “Bush Capital”.

Easter Island

Federated States of Micronesia
The Federated States of Micronesia is an independent sovereign island nation and a United States associated state consisting of four states โ€“ from west to east, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae โ€“ that are spread across the Western Pacific Ocean.

Fiji Islands

New Zealand
New Zealand is a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean consisting of 2 main islands, both marked by volcanoes and glaciation. Capital Wellington, on the North Island, is home to Te Papa Tongarewa, the expansive national museum.

Niue

Wallis and Futuna, is a French island collectivity in the South Pacific between Tuvalu to the northwest, Rotuma of Fiji to the west, the main part of Fiji to the southwest, Tonga to the southeast, Samoa to the east, the New Zealand territory of Tokelau to the northeast and to a more distant north the Phoenix Islands (Kiribati).
