CALGARY, Canada – Marriott Hotels is bringing its premier North American Bourbon Battles to Canada for one stop at the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel on Thursday May 19th at 6:00 pm. The event will be hosted by leading global spirit expert and author Heather Greene and will aim to crown the ultimate North American bourbon cocktail craftsman.
Representing Canada, the Calgary Marriott Downtown plans to feature two of its signature bourbon cocktails: the Black Walnut Old Fashioned (bourbon, water, sugar cube, angostura & black walnut bitter) and the Temperance (whiskey, strawberry infused syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, Steller’s Jay sparkling wine).

Marriott Hotels’ Bourbon Battle features four contestants per event on this five city tour (Calgary, Portland, Lexington, KY, Boston, and culminating in New York City). Winners from the first four events will win a chance to compete in the finale round in New York City. At each Battle, the Marriott bartenders will go up against local mixologists to prove their bourbon mixology skills. The four contestants for Calgary’s battle are: Kevin McKee of the Scottsdale Arizona Marriott, Michael Sheppard of ONE18 EMPIRE Whiskey Bar and Restaurant, Madeleine MacDonald of Model Milk, and Shelby Goodwin of The Derrick Gin Mill & Kitchen. The Bourbon Battles competition series is a as part of the broader Marriott Hotels Bourbon Program, an innovative on-property experience for guests and visitors.
