AirTran Airways opens registration for AirTran U

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings Inc., has announced that it is opening registration for its AirTran U standby travel program for young travellers.

The program offers applicants, aged between 18 and 22, travel on a standby only basis to any of the 58 cities that AirTran Airways serves (excluding Cancun in Mexico and San Juan in Puerto Rico) for USD69 per short-haul segment or USD99 per long-haul segment of travel.

To participate, customers select their chosen destination, dates and times and arrive at the AirTran Airways counter a minimum of two hours before their scheduled time of departure. AirTran U passengers can earn half A+ Rewards credits per completed journey.
