ATLANTA, GA – Delta Air Lines has taken delivery of the first of 45 new A321 narrow-body aircraft, fresh off the factory floor at the Airbus manufacturing facility in Hamburg.

The company announced three years ago it was purchasing 30 of the large narrow-body jets, and later increased the number to 45.

Following inspection and test flights, the latest acquisition is due to enter the Delta fleet early next month. The remaining aircraft will join the fleet over the next two years, with all deliveries scheduled by the end of 2018.

On the codeshare front, Delta has signed an agreement with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Jet Airways of India to provide convenient connections to and from destinations across North America to the Indian subcontinent via Amsterdam.

Jet launched daily nonstop flights from Amsterdam to each to its hubs in Mumbai and New Delhi on 27 March, complementing KLMโ€™s daily flight between Amsterdam and Mumbai. Jet also operates an Amsterdam โ€“ Toronto daily.

Delta has also signed a codeshare deal with KLM subsidiary Transavia, expanding the choice of onward destinations offered by Delta from the US via its hub in Amsterdam to allow passengers to connect on to 10 Transavia destinations.
