Jamaica’s Tourism Minister to host seminar for newly appointed board members

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hot on the heels of the Office of The Prime Minister’s announcement of the members of 52 public boards, Tourism Minister Hon.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hot on the heels of the Office of The Prime Minister’s announcement of the members of 52 public boards, Tourism Minister Hon. Edmund Bartlett is slated to host a seminar tomorrow (April 9) at the Montego Bay Convention Centre for members of the new boards of directors of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), Devon House Development Company and Jamaica Vacations Ltd. (JAMVAC).

“The newly appointed board members were carefully selected and I am positive that they are capable of guiding the agencies of the Ministry which all have a vital role to play in our efforts to enhance and diversify our tourism product and in ensuring that destination Jamaica achieves significant growth,” Minister Bartlett expressed.


The Minister added that “high on the agenda will be a presentation on corporate governance which will provide guidance for each board member on their respective roles and how best to execute their duties. I am confident that this dynamic group of qualified professionals will work together to ensure that the objectives of the respective agencies are met.”

The seminar, which is being organized by the Ministry, will serve as an orientation session for the new board directors. Minister Bartlett will issue his charge to the board members, who will be given key targets that should be met by each agency. He will also use the opportunity to outline in greater detail, his vision for the Ministry of Tourism and its agencies.
