GROWING DEMAND WITNESSED FROM INTERNATIONAL BUYERS LOOKING TO EXPAND BUSINESS INTO LATIN AMERICA

GROWING DEMAND WITNESSED FROM INTERNATIONAL BUYERS LOOKING TO EXPAND BUSINESS INTO LATIN AMERICA

ibtm america 2016, taking place from June 15-17 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, is gearing up to deliver meaningful business opportunities to Latin American meetings and events suppliers attending with a strong number of Hosted Buyers having specified a direct interest in placing business in the region.

Close business and cultural ties to the US, which make Latin America especially attractive for US-based meeting groups, have played a large role in the growth witnessed in Latin Americaโ€™s meetings industry over the last year. As more US-based companies extend their global reach, many are holding meetings and conventions throughout the region. Luxury incentive trips, exclusive board meetings, and Presidentโ€™s Club events are particularly popular among US meeting planners.

Jaime McAuley, Event Director, ibtm america, commented, โ€œWith Hosted Buyer registration having gone live in February, a number of elite, senior level decision makers have already confirmed attendance, 81% of which have indicated an interest in placing business internationally. Among confirmed Hosted Buyers, Latin America is one of the top three regions of focus, alongside North America and Europe. Nearly half of the buyers registered so far have indicated an interest in placing business in Latin America.โ€

The most popular destinations in Latin America among Hosted Buyers include Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru. Hosted Buyers also indicated a strong interest in the Caribbean, with Jamaica, the Bahamas, Aruba, Puerto Rico and St. Martin being the most popular destinations.

McAuley continues, โ€œLatin America appeals to US meeting planners because of a number of factors, the largest being the invaluable face-to-face time it provides them with their clients and partners within the region. The wide range of meeting venues and attractions, the ease of accessibility and airlift from major American cities, same or similar time zones, the fact that most major Latin American cities have bilingual populations, and Latin American hospitality and authenticity all add to the regionโ€™s popularity.โ€

ibtm america 2016 will host a select group of Corporate, Association and Incentive Hosted Buyers who have indicated a strong interest in hotels, resorts and spas, incentive products, destinations, event support services, attractions and entertainment, and ground transportation management.

โ€œBeing part of the biggest global organizer of trade shows for the meetings and events industry means we are able to tap into a worldwide database of buyers as our portfolio unites international and regional communities from five continents around the world. And, this year, our unique 100% mutual match process is set to create compatible business appointments between buyers and suppliers, eliminating non-relevant meetings and ensuring that attendees are only spending time with the business leads they identify,โ€ said McAuley.
