VICTORIA, Seychelles – The 12 contestants of this year’s Miss Seychelles…another world 2016 beauty pageant were in the media glare for the first time yesterday.

VICTORIA, Seychelles – The 12 contestants of this year’s Miss Seychelles…another world 2016 beauty pageant were in the media glare for the first time yesterday. A short ceremony was held at the Espace building were the girls were presented to members of the press who were present.

Present at the event were the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, the deputy chief Nathalie Didon, head of the GAP Events, PR and Communications Consultancy company which has won the bid to organise this year’s beauty pageant and the contestants’ grooming sessions.

Also gracing the ceremony with her presence was Miss Seychelles…another world 2015 Linne Freminot. The 12 ladies, aged between 17 to 24, walked in the hall gracefully, posing for the cameras, as the mistress of ceremony read their profiles.

The contestants hail from various regions across Mahe except for 19-year old Lianne Barbe who comes from the island of Praslin. Apart from Miss Barbe, the other contestants are Samiya Albert, Kimberley Anacoura, Christine Barbier, Ruth Bonte, Rita-Maria Durup, Hemma Hoffman, Samira Nicoire, Anais Nourrice, Juanita Porice, Sophie Rosette and Camilla Spivey.

Addressing those present at the ceremony, Miss Naiken said the journey, leading up to the crowning night, will be worthwhile. She added that the girls will gain new skills and knowledge, meet new people and form new friendship.

Miss Naiken said the Seychelles Tourism Board will ensure that the contestants receive the necessary skills to prepare for the crowning evening, adding that these training sessions will help the girls in their professional and personal development.

She echoed words of thanks to members of the press for the support they give to the contestants each year.

Miss Naiken also thanked the partners for coming on board to ensure that the pageant is always hailed as a success. She called on members of the public to give the contestants encouragement and support.

The 2016 beauty queen along with her two princesses will be crowned on May 28.
