LAS VEGAS, NV – Sands ECO360°, the global corporate sustainability program of Las Vegas Sands (LVS), is launching its fourth annual “I Will If You Will” (IWIYW) global challenge by collaborating with the company’s team members and encouraging them to take action to reduce their impact on climate change. The annual event is held in conjunction with the global Earth Hour celebration organized by the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), which will take place on March 19.

The occasion marks one of LVS’ three global team member engagement events that are conducted annually to support environmental sustainability.

During the week of March 13 – 19, team members can take the following actions to participate in the IWIYW Challenge:

1. Take public transportation/carpool/bike/walk to work.
2. Turn off the lights from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. for one day. (Especially on March 19 – Earth Hour)
3. Change out an inefficient light bulb with an LED bulb.
4. Wash clothes in cold water.
5. Adjust thermostat for energy conservation.
6. Take an educational Sands ECO360° quiz.
7. Unplug electronics or appliances while not in use.
8. Submit a green idea.

“Team members are an integral part of our Sands ECO360° program. We look for fun ways to engage them and make them feel informed and excited about sustainability,” said Katarina Tesarova, vice president of global sustainability for Las Vegas Sands. “Earth Hour has become our company tradition and it provides a great platform for us to communicate the importance of energy conservation,” continued Tesarova. “This year we expanded the one hour event into a one week global campaign which encourages our more than 50,000 team members to celebrate their commitment to the planet with their friends, family, community or at work in their own way. We hope these actions will go beyond the Earth Hour week and become our way of living.”

LVS is deeply committed to environmental stewardship through the work of the Sands ECO360° Global Sustainability Program, which focuses on sustainable buildings and development, as well as reducing the impact of the company’s business operations on the natural environment. The program integrates best practices in sustainability across all company properties and serves as a roadmap for continuous improvement on environmental performance.
