ITALY (eTN) – Salento, one of the prevailing tourism districts of the Apulia (the boot of South Italy), is planning to launch a pleasant initiative directed to the international press and tour operators at itb berlin from March 9-13.

A Salento-style gathering will be held at the restaurant Casa Italia (patron Luca Bruno), Friederichstrasse 136 in Berlin on March 10.

“Sea Culture and Fun,” is the theme for Salento and will feature food tasting, Negroamaro wine, and Pizzica music and dance – the traditional ancient local folklore that inspired the international Pizzica Festival held in Melendugno every year in August. Singer and pianist Carla Petrachi will be the star of the night. The event is geared to become the talk of the city.

The political representative of the Melendugno Municipality, Ms. Anna Elisa Prete, has confirmed to attend to the event and disclosed to eTN some of the subjects that will be included in the presentation of Salento.

“The … soft sand and clean beaches of Salento, awarded the Blue Flag by the European Social Fund for Development and the Environment, are located along the Adriatic coast only 20 kilometers away from the Baroque city of Lecce, the capital city of the province. They are Melendugno, Torre Specchia, Roca, Torre dell’Orso, Sant’Andrea, and San Foca. The prestigious National Geographic eyed the Natural Pool in Roca Vecchia and positioned it among the ten most beautiful in the world! [It is] an ancient sanctuary of pre-Roman era where the sailors from Terra d’Otranto used to pray to divinities [and] was brought to light here. The cliffs of Sant’Andrea with natural arches and creeks are spectacular. An equipped walkway in the first seaside beach for disabled in San Foca allows people with physical disabilities and SLA to swim independently.

“But,” Ms. Prete continued, “holidays in Salento are complemented by the … creativities who propose special initiatives such as [an] attractive price for all inclusive [holidays]. The latest is launched by Iberotel Group. From May 14 to June 14 and from September 10-30, 2016, Iberotel Apulia will become the world capital of anti stress. The guests of the resort will enjoy free wellness services at the all-inclusive tariff. As for architecture, Masseria Chiccorizzo, [a] typical Salento farm whose construction dates [back to] the 15th century, will delight in particular the lovers of ancient architecture. All the rooms are overlooking the typical Corte Salentina (a little square where the neighbors meet and chat), surrounded by olive trees and a large swimming pool.

“Rent apartments are available in the pine wood[s] by the sea at Lido Le Canne, [and] in Gallipoli. The resort will attend … ITB.

“Lido La Sorgente at Torre dell’Orso specializes in the Mediterranean diet. … Extravagant and pleasant dining on top of a rock looking down to the blue sea while tasting the catch of the day is proposed by Grotta del Conte Restaurant.

“But,” said Ms. Preti with concern, “You cannot leave Salento without tasting the wines. In this god blessed land surrounded by the Jonian and the Adriatic Sea, 13 wineries in two small towns of just 12,000 inhabitants produce [the] best wine brands: Negroamaro; Primitivo in the Salice Salentino districts of Guagnano; and Sandonaci, a DOP area exporting around the world.

“Cantina San Donaci [was] awarded with [an] international wine trophy in Berlin, [and the] producer of Anticaia (red) brand is open for wine tasting.”
