TAIPEI, Taiwan – EVA Air launched over the weekend a nonstop service between Taipei, Taiwan and Istanbul, Turkey using Boeing 777-300ERs. The new service operates initially with four flights a week.
Turkish Trade Office Representative Ismet Erikan and EVA Air Executive Vice President Glenn Chai, along with nearly 300 passengers, were aboard EVA Air’s maiden flight to Istanbul, while airport officials at Istanbul’s Ataturk International had prepared a warm and joyful celebration at the arrival gate. Istanbul Sultangazi District Governor Mr. Ali Uslanmaz, Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission Ankara Representative Mr. Tai-Hsiang Cheng and special passenger and cargo services guests also joined airline officials and passengers for the maiden flight celebration.
“EVA Air is bringing our award-winning service into this market and we want this route to thrive,” said EVA Air Executive Vice President Glenn Chai. “Istanbul is unique to both Europe and Asia in its geographical advantages. From here, it is easy for passengers to connect onward aboard flights to most of Europe’s major cities. And with our new service, travellers from Turkey and Europe have easy access to leading destinations throughout Asia and mainland China.”
“I am very glad to see EVA Air become the first airline in Taiwan to offer nonstop flights between Taipei and Istanbul. This service is going to bring more people from Taiwan to Turkey and, at the same time, introduce more people to Taiwan. EVA Air’s flights will further strengthen economic, trade and cultural exchange,” said the Turkish Trade Office Representative Ismet Erikan.
EVA Air’s Taipei to Istanbul flights depart in the early morning and arrive at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport early enough to conduct a full day of business or sightseeing, or connect via a Turkish Airlines flight to many major cities in Europe. Istanbul to Taipei passengers can also take advantage of EVA Air’s flights and arrive in Taipei early in the morning, with comfortable connection times for numerous onward flights to EVA Air gateways throughout Asia and mainland China.

It gives transcontinental travelers advantages of its location in Eurasia and makes connecting flights to destinations throughout Europe and the Middle East easier than ever for EVA Air passengers. The Taipei-Istanbul route and EVA Air’s and Turkish Airlines’ code-share arrangement gives passengers inviting new travel choices that are bound to attract more travellers from Taiwan.
