Beginning March 25, Fastjet Zimbabwe will commence twice weekly flights between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg, in time for the busy Easter season. Operated by an Airbus A19, the flights will initially operate every Friday and Sunday, facilitating weekend visits to the world’s greatest waterfalls, or a longer stay to take in some safari images from nearby national parks in Zimbabwe or across the border in Zambia.

Fastjet also recently announced that the airline will step up the initial daily flight from Harare to Johannesburg to two frequencies a day, except for the time being Saturday, with convenient early morning and late evening departure times.

This development comes just days after one of Fastjet PLC’s shareholders, controversial Easyjet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou (SHI), demanded for an Extraordinary General Meeting where he intends to overthrow the management of the company after also taking issue with the location of the airline’s head office.

This seems now an all too familiar pattern by SHI, similar to past attacks launched on the Easyjet management where, apart from a major shareholding, he no longer plays any role in the running of the airline.
